Going with the older CC module or repairing the one in Posted by TonyJ [Email] (#407) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TonyJ) on Mon, 5 Jan 2009 17:07:05 In Reply to: 1992 - 1994 Cruise Control modules, Bill Homer [Profile/Gallery] , Mon, 5 Jan 2009 10:37:07 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
the 94 ( I would be amazed if it still works reliably- went through 4 junk yard ones plus a "rebuilt" and they all eventually went completely dead) is your easiest path. Forget trying to retrofit the whole TCS from the 95. Use Jeff's info - Here is my post from 2006:
I found one of Jeff's recommended older units, 95 60 905 from a '90 900 turbo, made the adapter using the female connectors and about 4" of wiring from the 900 soldered to the male connector removed from one of my bad 41 08 650 units, and it works great! The 95 60 905 is also listed for 9000s through 87 in my parts interchange book.
I had to drill out the 4 rivets to remove the un-needed and in-the-way 900 mounting bracket, but the inside ends of the rivets remained solid and didn't fall inside. The 900 unit is exactly the same size and fit easily in our 94 Aero. The colors of the 900 wires were the same as in Jeff's earlier post, except that the SET wire (pin 2 on the 900) was green, not red & white.
I had tried one from a 93 900 convertible, 41 08 643, which plugged right in, but was -- guess what -- intermittent. It seems to be the same as the 41 08 650, only with a mounting bracket. Add it to the list of ECUs to avoid.
Thanks again!
