new battery--Group 48

My 1996 9000CS fpt has been getting a bit harder to start as the temps here fall below 0F. This morning the voltage readout was 7.2 immediately after start-up, so I decided it was time to replace the battery. I had no idea how old it was because it came with the car when I bought it. The battery was an Interstate Mt-41, with no hold down, it was just sitting in there. I tried costco, sears and Kmart and none of them carries group 41. The local parts store said they had one, but couldn't find it on their shelves. They did run a half hour test on my old battery and concluded that it was bad. I ended up buying a group 48 with reverse terminals four about $95 and a universal bracket/hold-down. The new battery seems to fit ok and I hope that the new holddown will do its job despite being kind of flimsy. We are expecting bitter cold next week, so I guess I will find out if group 48 is an acceptable replacement.
