Hello everyone, My name is Alfredo and am an owner of a '95 9000cse with 120k miles on it. I've always liked these cars for a number of years and when my '92 Ford Probe GT didn't pass emmissions I got rid of it and jumped at the chance to buy one of these finally. I'm glad I did. I am now a converted saabite. I've been a floater here for the past year reading a lot of the vast information on this board and have seen that everyone here is a true enthusiast. Just from reading I almost feel as if I know some of you guys already (ari, swedecar, yaofeng, adamb, oldsaab, vtsnaab, 9kSilverAero, Saabnutt and others.) Just from reading I've already figured out more or less what modifications (stage 5, 3" DP, GT30 turbo, Bilsteins H/R suspension to name a few) I would want on my car and have already completed some repairs just utilizing the search feature. I was part of another board prior to this, that was on Roadfly when I owned a '95 BMW 840ci, another wonderful information filled board with true enthusiasts also.

I just moved to southern Cal from Chicago after going through a divorce and other life changing events and came here for a new perspective and to start a new life basically. Actually looking at the weather reports for back home, I'm glad I made the move, -14 below zero and right now I'm in shorts and sandals :)))))) I've spoken to some of my friends and told them haha. Lol. Before moving I had done a number of PM to my car in preperation for the trip (Thermo, antifreeze, plugs, trans fluid, mounted trailer hitch, 10-40 Mobil 1, brake job with PBR Deluxe low dust pads a new radiator, Nakamichi Td45z HU, Infinity 4" up front, 6x9 Alpines in rear, 2x12's sealed subwoofer box in back, Blaupunkt 4x50 channel amp and a 2x150 Infinity amp for the subs plus a few other things that I can't remember.) By the way, regarding the towing, I pulled a Uhaul trailer loaded to the top with a gross weight of approx 2300 lbs and this car did wonderfully, I still got very good mileage with sufficient power. In comparison, my ma had a '98 Dodge Intrepid with a 3.2 V-6, and my car did a lot better in every aspect. I got a bit concerned driving through the San Bernardino mountains, which is a story in itself. I thought I would take the scenic route and the map said forest preserve, I had no idea it would be a mountain trek. Back in Chicago, a forest preserve is flatland, so.... :O

One of the things I did prio to moving was with the radiator and that was because I over tightened the top hose to the plastic flange on the rad. I lent the car to my Ma and it broke while she was driving it. Instead of pulling over and calling me she drove it home for 3 miles with no fluid. When she got home, well, I can't say how I felt but in any event I changed the rad and everything seemed ok. All fluids were ok, the engine didn't freeze up or anything. But now after the trip I noticed the smoke out of the tailpipe and saw some antifreeze squirt out of the side of the engine while it was running. My fears were confirmed, my HG was toast. I was lucky to make it over here the way I did. I just got a job and this happened run before I went for the interview. Thankfully my superviser had a sympathetic ear and is letting work from home. I'm doing loan modifications over here.

So now I find myself at the point of doing this daunting repair, of which to tell you the truth, I'm scared as all hell looking at the pics and other details but I'm basically starting from scratch over here and find myself having to do this repair from a point of necessity. If I had the cash, I'd send it over to swedecar, but... I'm feel somewhat confident that I can do it as I'm a natural DIY'er. And I say somewhat with some reservations when it comes to this HG job.

So while I'm doing this and I'm gonna have almost the whole engine, I might as well change the belt and the tensioner. I'm ordering the parts from Eeuroparts for the Hg but was wondering if anyone had the spacer tool for the tensioner that they could do a huge favor of lending it to me. I would be more than happy and willing to Paypal a deposit on it, an E16 torx bit would be very helpful also but Eeuro has them and since its free shipping with orders over $50.00 it basically comes out for free. The only thing is they have the 3/8's size. Swedecar, when I spoke to him said to use the 1/2 bit. And if anyone would have any other recommendations of what I should take care of while I'm in there, it w

I hope this post isn't out of line in anyway, being asking to borrow a couple of tools when no one knows me. But again I would gladly post a deposit and would gratefully return them upon completion of the job.

Well, thank you for taking time to read my lengthy post, I intend to be here for quite awhile as I don't plan on getting rid of my car for a loooonnnggggg time. If I can eek out 350-600k miles out of it, I would turn around and buy another one.

Whew!!! This is a lengthy post.
