Hey Martin,

I'm more familiar with the earlier Clarion system, but if the wiring between the systems is similar, there should be two power wires - an intermittent and a constant. The intermittent one (a gray wire in 92-94 cars) is a power wire that shuts off power to the radio when the car is being started, so that feedback through the electricals does not damage the radio or speakers. The constant power wire (red and thicker in 92-94) provides the regular power. It's possible that one of these wires is bad or connected poorly. The aerial is controlled by a seperate (dark green) wire so is not correlated directly with the power of the radio.

Just the first thing that popped into my head - other radio buffs can weigh in on whether this is a possibility.
