Need some sanity checks... Posted by SaabDork [Email] (#3030) [Profile/Gallery]

OK, '91 S quit on me while driving and would barely crank over again.
The engine seems to be very difficult to crank over like a weak battery or starter but I have put in new ones (the starter is a rebuild). I was able to turn over the crank easily with serpentine belt off while checking for an accessory that might be dragging but they are all OK.
One of the mechanics keeps saying the engine might be "locked up" but since I could rotate the assembly by socket on Crank pully, that doesn't seem probable.
So now I need some brainstorming from the group.
The motor doesn't crank fast enough to start in my opinion, it just sluggishly cranks. What UP???
