Turbo "fade" and sometimes cut out...(kinda long)

Hi All:
I have a 93 9kCST with 180kmi on the clock. It has been and is a great car, and in general, fun to drive.
A new problem has popped up: the turbo often cuts or fades off at highway cruising speeds. Here are the symptoms: car is fully warmed up, and when cruising at, say 70-85 mph, with the turbo boosting into the lower part of the yellow (so, say the bottom 1/3 of the non-white part of the guage) the turbo will cut off with an associated and slight though noticeable lurch *and* loss of pedal position. Here's the weird part: let off the gas pedal for a half second or so, and then get back into it, and everything comes right back up. Couple minutes later, same thing. Happens more on slight uphills, pulling into the wind with bikes on top or generally when the car is under more load, but not consistently. Turbo never fades off or cuts out when my foot is really in it, like when passing or accelerating.
The car is very driveable around town, with full and normal turbo boost available for typical driving conditions on surface roads.
So, before I start replacing stuff, does anyone have suggestions as to where to look first? APC/BPC? Turbo cut-out valve? Vacuum lines? Knock sensor?
The car has the "newer" non-stock throttle body, and generally starts and runs fine. Idle is steady and consistent.
(Aero suspension upgrades, 17" wheels and tires, K&N air filter insert with drilled box, otherwise stock setup)
Any suggestions most welcome, Thanks in advance!
