The 94cs turbo is my only SAAB left. It carries a 10/08 NJ inspection sticker failing high NOx. It started with high HC and CO last October. A new cat didn't help. I eventually traced it to a bad turbocharger. Rebuilt one and put it in. Still failed high NOx. On top of the emission woe wife complained a gas smell. I don't know if it is related.

On top of my frequent travel I was still going to stick with it finding a fix. Came back last night from a two week travel. Leavng again Wednesday morning. Today I took it out for a spin aroung the block after coming back from work. It has a knock on the rear passenger side wheel every rotation at slow speed. So I slowly drove it back to the house. Crawled under the car. I saw the gas tank filler neck was wet with gas. So unrelated to the knock I found the source of the gas smell. Removed the wheel wanting to see if I can fix the gas leak and I saw this.

There is a partial puncture at the strut tower due to rust. At 161k miles this is the end of the road for her.

My daughter wrecked my 540 a month ago. It has a good drive train I want to keep. It is taking the only spot left of the two car garage. The other spot has junk I want to get rid of. I cannot aford to have an eye sore in the driveway. Someone who lives close enough can drive it away in slow speed if he wants. The engine has 175 psi even compression on all holes with a good turbocharger I just put in. I don't think I have time anymore to take it apart.

Wife vetoed any more 9k's saying it is too old. I've turned from a 3 9k household to a 3 bimmer one. We have 01 540it, 95 525i, 03 325i, not including the 6 speed 95 540 sidelined in the garage. The 540 will be a longer term project waiting for a good body. I hope to get a e34 touring body when the dust settled and things get more quiet.
