'97 9K CSE 232K auto. New fuel pump, new CPS, 93 octane, always.
Monday afternoon 80 degrees F. Turning up hill on the way home, the car stumbled, then acted like it was running on 2 or 3 cyl. Got home, changed the DI unit for a spare, took it out for test drive, all was well, problem solved. BUT, yesterday, halfway through my day, 80 F again, car stumbled and stalled while idling. Re- started a few times then went to gas station to fill up. Tank was at 1/2 the first time on Monday, but below 1/4 yesterday. Filled up, drove 60 miles home with a couple of stops, no problems. Obviously not the DI. Other than a defective fuel pump, what else could it be? The reason I mentioned the ambient tempature is thats the only thing different. I'm in northern Vermont, and these are the first HOT days this year. First time to see the temp gage move past 7 o'clock since last summer. Was between 8 & 9 both times. Any ideas?
