Hi friends, I was just thinking to my self, how boring my 98 autoCSE 167k km. has not given me any trouble for at least 8 month, last mayor issue was a water pump repair. Yes repair, many of you may ask, because, I am in Chile were there is only 20 or so 9000s on the road. So as you can spect no spares no junkyards, basically you have to keep up your saab in top shape condition.. and try to prevent any future failure by constantly monitoring all mayor areas of the car, going back to the water pump repair, I removed it and since its housing and impeller were in good shape, had its carbon seal and bearing replace about 32 usd. in labor and parts, Well know I have detected an hydralinc fluid leak (Red in color) which it had since the time I bought it almost 18 month ago, it was trace back to the low presure return line to the resevour for the steering pump wich I plan on replacing it by having one manufacture locally. It seem it would leak only when engine is stop.. well know its getting more noticeble a bigger Fluid stain than usual, so I decided very carfully degrease my engine with the help of my Honda Hydrowasher, (Not very found of washing engine compartment but took all precautions necesary) well finally with prety much a clean engine I was able to reach behind the engine area and follow lor presuare feed hose to the Steeing pump and found no trace of fluid there but when I finally touch the Pump body from behind, found the new source of the leak, Its leaking from the rear end of the pump body, had the same exact issue on my 900 seem like the use the same pump body juging by the drawing on the EPC?, well I not very concern since that time it turn out to be an easy fix, (Except for the removal instalation) just pop the Circlip from the back secction of the pump body that holds the back cover plate in place, removed it very carfully and you could see the entire pump inner working parts, but you could also se an o-ring that is in there to seal agains the back plate of the pump, remove it very carfully without disturbing any of the working part of the pump, replace it about 6 usd for a good quality oring. and that was it, no more leaking hydrauling pump. has anyone done this on thier 9k pump? is it commong for this pump to beging leaking from behind?. Like always thanks fot the attention.. and best regards.
Ganzo.
