Re: serpentine belt change interval? I like to replace the serpentine belt every 30K, the pulleys (idler and tensioner) every 60K. I fully admit that is much more frequent than necessary. So why?
I figure the pulleys are good for about 75K, and I like replacing the pulleys before they fail (having failed one.) Since I've got to pull the belt to do the pulleys, I put in a new belt. I'm not comfortable with running a belt to 75, so I cut the interval in half.
Yes, but half of 75K isn't 30K. I aim for 30K, but if I miss it by a little, I'm just fine.
If you think that's too frequent (and it is, I admit it), I'd replace the pulleys no later than every 70K, and inspect the belt frequently. Since the labor for the pulleys and the belt are pretty much the same, I really don't want to do the job twice - if the belt comes off, I put on a new belt (yes, I've failed a belt, too - no fun). I'm just not comfortable with running a belt to 65K.
That's my approach, and I fully admit it's probably excessive.
