I have a chance to buy a 1988 9000 turbo from a very reputable indy shop in my hometown. I drove it the other day and it seems tight. 172k Rebuilt 5-speed with good clutch action, COLD AC (38F at the vent), turbo spools up right, excellent body (No Rust! I'm in the Southeast), great headliner, black leather in awesome shape, great interior, only minor flaws (no stereo, but owner is going to put in a SAAB stereo before purchase, one piece of ext. trim to be put back on). Asking price is $2000. I know it would be a great buy but...there is a '98 CSE for $2000 locally. Privately owned. needs AC work. Don't know what else is wrong, but has 192k on the clock. Owner says it is in excellent shape shape.
I know the indy shop would make anything right on the car that goes wrong, they are very good. I'm wondering about getting a 10 year newer car, though, for the same money.
Any thoughts? Advice?
