Hi Everybody - I'm at my wit's end here...
I have a 86 9000 T with 298K Miles. It won't start and I'm stumped on what to do next.
The car has been sitting for 6 months.
I replaced the power steering pump and High Pressure and return hose, and it cranked right up and ran fine in my workshop.
I came back a the next day and it won't start. It cranks fine but no combustion.
Looks like no spark from the spark plugs even with new NGK plugs.
I checked ALL the fuses. All good. I swapped out #14 Fuel Pump - No Joy.
I replaced the fuel pump a couple of years ago and it was fine up to putting car in garage. I exposed the fuel pump and cannot hear pump when I turn the key on. All other lights and radio work.
I've whacked on the gas tank (thinking pump might have grit clog) and have cleaned the teeth on Ignition Amplifier Module plug (as suggested here).
I'd like to rule out the fuel pump if possible in a safe way. After that I'd like to try and determine if it's a relay, or the Ignition Amplifier Module. (Anyone tryied the HUCO Ignition Amplifier Module?)
Skill Level: I've replaced the clutch, and timing chain without pulling the engine, but my electrical troubleshooting skills get stopped by relays and Ignition Amplifier Modules. Can I use a Volt/Ohm meter to check for current coming out of the coil wire?
I'm stumped.
I'd sure appreciate any thoughts and suggestions.
thanks in advance,
Dave
