No reverse diagnosis- clutch related?

So still haven't figured out why it's so hard to get into reverse all of a sudden, but it seems like the clutch isn't fully disengaging. I can eventually get into reverse if I just keep letting up and retrying the clutch. Sometimes it goes into reverse, sometimes it grinds like the clutch is not pushed in all the way, and sometimes it won't go at all as if the clutch pedal was not pressed.
All the other gears work fine, though the clutch engagement point on the pedal is very high. The strange thing is that if I turn off the car, I can get into the other gears but the reverse stays the same as it was when the car was last on (if I could get into reverse when the car was running, then it still goes, and if not, it still won't go when off).
Does this sound like I just need a clutch job? It's not slipping so I had thought it was something else, but I'm surely no expert...
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
