Quick rear swaybar mount check.... Posted by JEMSaab [Email] (#1053) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JEMSaab) on Wed, 29 Jul 2009 11:21:24 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I thought I'd post this to help others out. This is a good way to find out if the rear sway bar bushings(mounts) are in need of replacing.(only the 2 mounts - not the bushings that mount to shock/hub assy) It doesn't matter if you have the car on jack stands or on the ground. Simply grab the mount and try to slide it on the bar side to side with your hand. If you can move the mount side to side at all, replace it. Just think, if you can move it by hand, the car will certainly move it with ease. I noticed this when I went to replace them on my '95. Then yesterday I was inspecting the rear suspension points on the '94 and found one mount was worn enough to move by hand. Just glancing at the bushings, you may be fooled if they "look alright". At $5/pc you can't pass this by. This is so easy to check and almost just as easy to replace. I hope this helps someone out in the future. Happy Saabing everyone!
