Where is my coolant going?

I wrote recently of my ordeal of having to repair a heater hose 6 different times on a weekend trip. I finally got the new hose from eeuroparts, but since I've connected it up, I'm finding that I top up with coolant in the morning but I get a low coolant light coming on when I'm on my way home.
There are no puddles under the car. I don't see any leaks. I don't see any white smoke from tail pipe. I don't see any froth on the dipstick. I don't see oil in the coolant. I pulled the plugs and they look perfectly fine. If I was going to blow a head gasket, it would have been back one of the times when I overheated a couple of weeks ago. But that seems like the only explanation for my loss of coolant now.
Any suggestions about how to be sure of this diagnosis? A compression test?
This is my CDE - meanwhile my Aero is getting an all new cooling system - radiator/heater core/hoses. Can't drive either at the moment.
