I did my head gasket on my Aero a while back, and decided that I was going to also do the rest of it right while I was in there. I did all new plastic guides, new chain (both balance shafts and timing chain), new tensioner, new head bolts, and a new lower sprocket. The way I figured it, I didn't want to open the engine back up unless I needed to redo the bottom end. The engine quieted down nicely (I was at the end of the chain life, and there was some slap), and it has worked perfectly.
I recommend doing it once, correctly, and carefully.
