Hey, all. My 9k Aero is eating oil. About a quart in 100 miles. The boost is excellent, there are no leaks, sometimes it smokes, sometimes it doesn't. When it does smoke, it's more of a light gray, slightly blueish smoke that's pretty thick and hangs in the air.

Here's the history: 163,700 on the chassis, 81,000 on the engine, 1500 on a rebuilt Garrett turbo. New head gasket and everything else to get to it. Compression is 120psi in all 4 cylinders with 4-5 cranks, dry, at an altitude of 8600 feet. Plugs are new, BOV is good, minimal oil in the air filter hose at the turbo. There's NO oil in the pressure hose from the outlet of the turbo into the intercooler. The exhaust side of the turbo is a nice, light brown. There's manybe a 1/32 of an inch of lateral play in the turbo impeller.

The cam shaft seal and oil pump o-ring have just been replaced and the oil pump was rebuilt at the same time. Oil pressure is perfect.

When the head was off, I inspected the cylinders and the walls were utterly perfect - no scoring and the hone marks looked like they were made yesterday.

It does have a slight miss at idle, but, immediately goes away when it's given a little gas. There's no sputtering or missing under acceleration or hard boost. It did recently have the head off because of a burned exhaust valve in cyl #1. No clue why it burned a valve. Everything else was just perfect. Head wasn't warped or cracked.

So... given this novel, what the heck???

Thanks, everyone.
