It's not too bad if you get all the bits and take your time, but it can be a nightmare if it goes bad on the road and don't have access to the fussy fittings and such.
It's worth trying a few good kicks to the tank if you're stranded. Sometimes that can push the motor onto a good part of the windings and let you go on your way.
