The only difference I can think of is thermo-switch for the cooling fan. The 1994 has a separate switch, while the 1997 uses the temperature gauge sensor and the EDU to control the fan. Since you are only moving the engine, and not the radiator, that difference will take care of itself.

There are many things you can do to while the engine is out, and I tend to get carried away. A lot depends on the mileage of the donor engine. I would be tempted to pull the oil pan and clean it out, since that only requires a tube of Loctite 518 to put back on. The timing chain, balance shaft chain, and chain guides are candidates for replacement if the donor engine has over 150K on it. While you have the timing cover off you can check all the timing and balance shaft gears for for wear. When you buy the head gasket, get the kit that include valve stem seals, and replace those. Check the head for flatness, because if the engine needs a new head gasket, there is always a possibility of some warping. Replace the water pump if the one on the donor engine is the original. Consider doing the rear main seal, if you feel comfortable about doing it correctly. Check the idler and tensioner pulleys, and check the tensioner condition. Either replace them or pick the best between the two engines. Carefully look at the lower engine mounts, because they are trivial to replace with the engine out. Look at the alternator brushes, and replace them if worn. Check all the cooling hoses and vacuum hoses, and replace any that seem weak.

Piston rings are probably unnecessary, but if it was a B235 engine (9-5) instead of a B234, a new set would definitely be on the list.

That's all I can think of now, but once you get into it, I'm sure you will notice other things that make sense to replace.
