G8 is a common ground for many of the indicator lights and gauges. If the ground is poor, the gauges maybe affected when indicator lights come on.
Try try turning on and off the high beam and or other indicator lights to see if the temp and fuel gauges move in response to additional current through G8.
G8 is behind the insrument cluster and can be reached through the left speaker opening.
