voltage at rear door lock?

A couple days ago the lock on my rear driver-side door gave up the ghost. I can lock/unlock manually and all other locks activate with either the key in the front doors or with the console-mounted switch. I have the door panel off, but I can't seem to determine if the lock is getting power or not.
What would I need to do to determine if there is a voltage/current going to the door? The only thing I was able to determine was that I have continuity between the 2 wires when I put my multimeter ends in the harness clip. Does this seem right? I tried to read a voltage while operating the locks buy I didn't see anything register (though it is a little awkward with only 2 hands)
Thanks for any advice!
