I've owned a '94 9000 N/A, '94 9000 Aero 5 speed, and '96 9000 Aero auto. The 5 speed 225hp is faster in every respect. You have to be skilled with the clutch of course. I've only floord my auto Aero from a deadstop a handful of times. It feels like its gonna break the car, and isn't impressingly fast IMHO. Having owned a Trans Am w/ powerful V8 and durable transmission (700R4 auto), I appreciate the Saabs for what they are in terms of quick starts "off the line." Once you get the Saab up to second gear, they are more fun, but there isn't much point in flooring it from a dead start IMHO. Just gonna break something. Oh yeah, the 9000 N/A was slow as hell (still a good car though). It was so slow, I just never thought of the car as anything more than comfortable, safe transportation. Great gas mileage also.
