I saw something like this in a book about welding, where a new stud is welded to the old piece stuck in the head, and about EDM. I asked around and haven't come up with anything or anyone to do this yet locally. My car has two broken studs surrounding the fourth cylinder, so they are somewhat easily accessible, but my indie told me to wait for replacement until the inevitable head gasket job while the head is out of the car. I'd rather be preemptive if it's reasonable.
