CAR : 1990 Saab 9000 Turbo 5speed, mods: aluminum flywheel, performance clutch

I was sideswiped by an idiot in an SUV. He clipped my front right tire and I lost 5th gear. All other gears work but I heard a strange sound.
I took off the end cover and found the output shaft bearing off the shaft, and the 5th gear laying loose (the internal splines on the gear were worn away).

I being the genius I am was fiddeling with the selector shaft and pulled fairly hard and the shaft extended about 12 inches out of the tranny.
Question 1 - Can I push the shaft back into the tranny and not screw stuff up further - is this even possible without opening it up now?

Question 2 - I need a 5th gear - where can I get one relativly cheap? erickson? goldwing?

Question 3 - Should I just replace the transmission? Would this be cheaper than replacing the gear? Or easier than tearing open the tranny and fixing the selectors?

Question 4 - Or should I junk the car? Its not in bad shape, a great little beater for the winters, a bit of rust of course, engine is solid, I replace a bunch'a stuff perviously, timing chain, tensioner, seals all around, I have a headgasket set that I havent installed yet (not that it really needs it), has a nice radio, bbs? 5 spoke wheels, is black, heated seats and sunroof.. I really like it.. but dont have a a lota time.. any offers? (its in Detroit, Michigan)
