Oil looks OK. I warmed it up today and did a compression test:
#1 140#
#2 110#
#3 150#
#4 155#
A couple things concern me. When I took the DI cassette off, the plastic shroud around coil towers #2 and #3 are a little melted...like it got real hot. This is a new-ish DI cassette, too. The other problem is that cylinders 2 & 3 were spitting brown coolant at me when I was reading the compression gauge. The HG is blown to he-double-hockey-stick. I pulled out the spare Aero today. It cranked fine and runs good. I just need to get the rust off the rotors. The radio code is locked out. It has the last four numbers punched in and won't clear them when I power it down. Not sure what's up with that.
Is the cylinder head from a 93 2.3L the same as a 97 2.3L? If the 97 got really hot it may have warped badly, or worse. I could grab the one off the 93 if they're the same.
