upper expansion tank hose Posted by sam96CS [Email] (#852) [Profile/Gallery] (more from sam96CS) on Wed, 5 May 2010 07:48:23 In Reply to: Re: Temp gauge fluctuate?, william, Tue, 4 May 2010 16:44:15 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I recently replaced my upper expansion tank hose, SAAB part number 4876637, due to a suspected pin hole leak. It fixed the leak, but the pleasant surprise is how much cooler the car has been running. I made no other cooling system changes, so the hose alone is making the difference. The temp gauge goes no higher than the 8 o'clock position, and we've had a few afternoons with the ambient temperature in the 80s. There's also much less fluctuation in the gauge reading.
Not bad for a $15 part that's an easy DIY installation for your son. At this point it could be worth a try.
