Did the green coolant thing for nearly 20 years on an '80 99 - flushed it, changed it, swapped summer winter t-stats. Went through several radiators over the years, plus two water pumps. In the mid 1990's, with a second 9000T [plus the 99] I switched the whole fleet over to Dexcool - longlife w/ dist water. On my 97 Aero, bought w/ 22k mi in 2000, we're at 185,000 w/ zero cooling system deposits when I replaced the water pump a couple of years ago. Original radiator.
Bought an 01 Chev Suburban, new. Flushed all coolant out for the first time last summer at 105,000 - no deposits, no issues, t-stat, anything. OE water pump is still fine.

The OEM Saab green stuff [maybe it was BASF? back in the day] was pricey in the 1980's & I just used Prestone. I think, in retrospect, the BASF stuff did have better corrosion protection, but ... Maybe that was my problem; but in the used Saabs I've bought w/ green coolant and more than 40k to 60k mi, the deposits / corrosion around t-stats, water pumps, and radiators [plus the three heater cores I've done on 9000's] all tell me the same thing: convert to Dexcool w/ a flush, then driving for a few days w/ plain distilled water, then refill w/ whatever concentration of Dexcool your climate requires. 50/50 works fine in SE Wisc.
