The 1993 ABS system (Mark II) is definitely interchangable with 1989-1992 models. In 1994, Saab switched the Mark IV system which is completely different. Buckmath is parting out his 1990 9000T in the classifieds. You could check with him to see if his system still worked when his transmission broke, and how many . The ABS in 1988 9000 has some interchangeable components with the Mark II system like the pressure switch, but other parts are different.
My 1990 9000T has 230K miles with the original ABS unit, so the units do last long, just not forever, as you found out.
