It seemed so simple. R&R of the flex pipe on the '95 CS.
Open the box with the flex pipe to find that it had the pressed-in studs but not the nuts. Off the the hardware store that has stainless metric nuts.
The nuts on the exhaust are too rusted to use a wrench on so off to the store for metal cutting blades and mandrel for the drill. Last three times I'e just used a wrench, broke them off and moved on. Not today!
But the bolts cut easily (three blades, though!) And the studs punch out of the flange from the cat and all is good.
Then come the studs on the flange and pipe to the middle muffler. Cutting, PB blaster, blowtorch, a 5 lb sledge and a punch do zip, nada, bupkiss.
The split flange I found at the 3rd parts store doesn't match the dimensions of the one from the flex pipe. Will look elsewhere tomorrow.
All this to save an hour or so of labor at my indy. Sigh.
Some days you eat the bear. Some days the bear eats you.
