broken valve spring on 2.3L

Found I have a broken valve spring on a exhaust port on the #4 cylinder. The valve doesn't seem to be bent. It return to it closed position & I can freely push it down a little with my hand. Has anyone change a spring with the cylinder still in the car? I looked a standard puller for over head cam engines and there isn't enough clearance to get the tool around the spring. Maybe there's another puller?
