ok, finally got the time, energy, and the right music playing in the garage...
I already knew from the wiring diagram in the factory docs that the low speed wire has a tap into it that goes I forget where. The high speed does not.
Took the air dam and all the under bits too, going to replace with the lower mileage better condition stuff off the twin parts car.
most likely 100 ways to do this, this is what I did. put a male spade connector on a spool of bell wire, 18Gauge because I had a new spool of it, and plugged into the 86/2 receiver where the low speed fan plugs in. HIGHLY recommend that you get a voltage test light, one of the best tools around. remove the low speed relay and put the ground wire to the battery because it's right there... and test the 87/5 socket and see it is hot, and the small on adjacent to it is as well (but the relay does not have a contact for it...) and the 85/1 contact is also hot. when this one gets grounded the relay pulls closed and 87/5 supplies through the relay power to 305/3 power to the low speed fan. The high speed side does the same with all connections the same in the relative positions.
So I disconnected the sender under the car, passenger side, and took the bell wire and hooked to a $9 VOM, set on 2k ohm. note that the connections change color as they come through the connections. On the shop diagram for the low speed fan there is a junction, and I found it. there is a plastic tray that runs under the radiator and the width of the radiator too, you can pry it open enough to lift the bundle out, following the blue wire from the connector that goes to the sender... about 6 inches into the area of the tray, I found the blue wire had another blue wire next to it, and then continued toward the drivers side with just the one blue wire. Heatshrinked with a connector bump in the middle of the heat shrink. I took a very fine sewing needle and small needle nose pliers and pushed the needle into the wire on the single side, and attached the VOM. showed a dead short, aka continuity, which is what I expected. I moved to the passenger side of the wire and tested each of the two wires, dead open. razor blade and slit the insulation and the three wires fell apart... the connector in the middle was copper sulfate green, as where the three wires ends. installed a once splice, soldered it, slipped on heat shrink tube, and soldered the three ends, check continuity at the connector and it was good, heated the heat shrink tube, and put it back together.
Done!
