Yes its back together, nothing was too bad (besides getting the tripod back on).

I supported the assembly on hub-end with a large socket, then using another large socket as a spanner (so I could hammer on the tripod not the shaft) I hit it several times with a hammer to get the tripod all the way back on the splines (I was careful to insure it was oriented properly).

The shaft has a shoulder the tripod rests on, need to seat it all the way in order to get the retaining clip on behind the tripod.

I don't see why this should effect the alignment, I probably will get it aligned anyway since it seems like if you sneeze on the front end you need an alignment.
