Yes, just guess on it. I've torn about just about every nut and bolt from a 9k and put one back together, and the only bolts on the thing that are critical for torque, are (of course) engine and transmission stuff, then onesy-twosy nuts like CV shaft, and rear wheel bearing nuts, so you don't burn out your bearings prematurely with too much / too little preload.
"Snug" is a tightness that works 99.9% of the time. Go until its snug with a long 3/8" ratchet, and once its snug, give it a quick JERK once more. In the thousands of nuts and bolts I've used this technique on, I've never stripped, or had one come loose afterward.
