Hmm If it is the turbo seal then it will get worse over time and in it's early stages unlikely to do any permanent harm at all to the the rest of the engine.
Never rebuilt a Turbo. Never had a failure :-) Although I do have an SPG9 rebuild kit on hand (came with a car) and frankly I'm surprised by the teeny weeny bits involved.
Don't these things need V careful rebalancing if the turbines are moved in any way on their connecting shaft?. I'm thinking DIY would require a fresh Cartridge... Unless one has means to re balance?
