i couldn't provide the original purchase receipt since I was not the original owner. After I provided the part number, the company said that yes indeed that part number is of a rebuildable unit. For a $65 charge, not including shipping, they would repair it. I am in NY so shipping both ways from coast to coast seemed hardly worth it.
So I ordered a new replacement from tirerack for just a little more money.


I have already done the 'patch' on the rusted rear shock towers so I should be good for at least another few years.
must say I do like the handling with the Bilstein shocks. I am wondering if the Koni dampers would be comparable in ride and handling. As someone mentioned, the tire rack has reduced the price on the Koni units recently, about the same as Bilstein.
