I assume that you have only one side jacked up. Note that since the control arm on the other side is still compressed if the wheel is on the ground, so the swaybar may be causing an upwards force on the control arm that is up in the air. If you run into this issue on the other side, try jacking up the repaired side to level things out.
I just pulled a strut this past Saturday, fortunately did not run into this.
