jhutton,

Generally speaking, codes beginning with the number 2 are Intermittent while those beginning with the number 4 are Permanent.

Regarding the codes you listed, here's what I was able to scour from my limited materials:

From: SAAB 9000 SERVICE MANUAL
M 1985-96
1.5 Diagnosis and Fault Tracing

Engine page 77
Diagnostic trouble codes

LH

22452 Fuel-air mixture too rich at idling speed, (NO LH test code)
See 2:3, Page 100

38371 Injectors faulty, (E218 LH test code)
See 2:3, Page 140

22450 (not listed under Engine)
However, SEE
Body, page 247
Airbag
Diagnostic trouble codes (M1992-1994)
Intermittent 22450 Secondary voltage, break
See 8:6, Page 91

From: 1992 9000 Airbag, page 34
Fault Finding
Remedy 14
No Secondary Power To The ECU
Fault code 42450
1. Check for power on both side of fuse #13
in the main fuse panel when the key is in
the run position.
2. Unplug the harness connector at the ECU,
inspect the terminal for pin #12 for distor-
tion or signs of backing out of the connec-
tor.
3. Plug BOB into the harness connector. Con-
nect you multimeter across BOB pins #13
(ground) and #12 (secondary power).
Do you read battery voltage? (Key On)

YES The fuse and harness are good. Hook
everything back together and erase
all codes. TURN THE KEY ON, WAIT
AT LEAST 60 SECONDS, TURN THE
KEY OFF BRIEFLY AND THEN ON
AGAIN FOR AT LEAST 60 SECONDS
MORE; THEN LOOK FOR FAULT
CODES WITH ISAT. If the code returns
try a known good ECU.

NO The fault is in the harness; shake,
yank & probe the harness and it's con-
nectors to try to pin down the source
of the problem.

25771 Signal from throttle position sensor absent or
shorted to ground or battery, (E002 LH test code)
See 2:3. page 114

Engine page 55
Diagnostic trouble codes, TCS

ETS

23692 Intermittent - KDW actuator motor, control of cable not working (towards open throttle), setting motor KDW, witer drawn too little.
See 2:5, page 184

From: Traction Control System
Automatic Calibration
Kick Down Cable Adjustment
Important
The basic adjustment of the Kick Down Cable
should be carried out before calibration.
1. Push the lever arm of the KDW-motor fully
away from the outer cable adjusting clamp.
2. Loosen the outer cable locking clamp and
move the outer calbe in the opposite direction
fully and re-tighten.
3. Check alignment of inner nad outer cables.
Should be in line!
Adjust brackets as required.
4. Install ISAT
Recored and clear DTC's.
5. Run engine to normal temperature.
Note
If the engine will not idle, shut off engine, use command
code 974.
6. Shut off engine, make contact with ETS.
7. Enter command code 971 to obtain base line setting.
8. Observe the KDW motor during base line set-
ting (automatic transmission only).
It should move.
9. Enter scan tool code 973, wait for TCS CTRL
lamp to light up - and then start the engine.
Do not touch any other controls.
10. Watch the TCS CTRL-lamp.
When the lamp flashes, press "SET" button for
Cruise Control and hold until lamp goes out.
11. Engine reves should rise to 3000 RPM and then
drop back to idle.
12. When the calibration process is ocmplete the
TCS CTRL light will shut off. Terminate com-
munications, shut off engine, and recheck
to see if any fault codes were stored during the
calibration process.
13. Make sure all fault codes are cleared

E7590 Permanent - Safety system, malfunction, Safety system activated.
See 2:5, page 250

Happy SAABing!
