Here comes Texas summer. A/C conversion questions... Posted by Ryan [Email] (#2222) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ryan) on Tue, 12 Apr 2011 16:05:31 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
So my '90 9Ks spent most of its life in the Pacific Northwest, where A/C was almost never used. Now I'm in Austin, Texas, and A/C is mandatory when the summer temps are 95-degrees and up. I was here for last summer's heat blast, and my A/C worked alright... then finally quit blowing cold. So I sweated the rest of the summer out.
I'd like to convert to R134, and am compiling a list of recommended replacement parts (receiver-drier, expansion valve, o-rings). Will remove old oil from the compressor.
Sticky question: when the A/C worked, I noticed that the knobs on my vents were tacky to the touch. Is this evaporator failure? Time to replace that as well?
As always, many (cool) thanks in advance.
