Just to make sure we are clear, we are talking about a naturally aspirated (no-turbo)donor car and a light-pressure (170HP) turbo receiving car, both with manual transmissions, right? The big difference is that the 1994 car will have higher gearing, so that, after the swap, the receiving car will rev higher at a given speed and your spedometer will read low. Both cars have the newer blocks so that the tranmission will mate up with the engine without a problem. I think the LPT cars had the smaller tripod joints like the earlier naturally aspirated cars, so that also makes it easer. If they don't, you can just move the companion flanges from one transmission to the other.
If both cars are automatic, I think both transmissions will be the same. I never had one of the ZF-automatics, so I am less familiar with with them.
