I went to see the adjuster today, expecting the worst. After looking it over and running the numbers, the adjuster came back and said exactly what any adjuster would have said: Damage exceeds value of car. I start discussing all of the receipts of work I have in a one-inch think folder.(engine, trans, etc) Suddenly, the conversation changes to how he knows I can't get another car like mine for $1800, which would be the value for a total loss. Turns out, this adjuster is a Saab Junkie just like us!!!!! He owns 9000's, 900's, 9-3's. He adjusted the numbers to reflect used parts and cut-back on some of the labor. I walked out of the body shop with a check for the rough value of my car AND MY CAR! No total loss. No R-title. Just a check that will cover the damages if I do the work myself. This is the way it should be, especially if you are involved in a accident that is not your fault. I am very relieved.
