another stupid hitch question Posted by TML [Email] (#2212) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TML) on Thu, 30 Jun 2011 12:04:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I received the hitch I ordered for my 96/97 Aeros. It's a Curt model 11811. It has five mounting holes, three horizontal and two vertical. Four of the five holes line up. The top horizontal hole is too high to line up with the matching threaded hole on the bumper. Four bolts is probably enough to hold it securely, but is this normal, did anyone else experience this?
The ball mount has a 3" drop. When I install this in "drop" configuration, the trailer is basically dragging on the ground. When I install it the opposite way, it's better but still not level (too far the other way then). What is the drop supposed to be, and which orientation do I install it in?
