When we got daughter #2's '99 9-3SE the plugs had over 20K on them. The PO was otherwise anal about maintenance but for some reason didn't do plugs as often as he should.

They were up around 1.3mm, which is huge. The DI was firing fine, though, and I think it was the original at 148K. That DI is now a spare.

I just did the plugs on the '96 9K my other kid has out west. They were right at 1 mm after 13,500 miles, having been set a year ago (new) at .9mm.

I think you can reasonably run plugs to 20K, but they must be re-gapped around 12K. But if you're going to re-gap, why not just replace? At <$2 each they are cheap enough.
