rules out the alarm system (which would prevent it from turning over at all). I agree with Simon that it sounds like it could be a loss of power through the cables and/or clamps - I had this happen to me years ago when I cleaned out the engine area on an old Audi Fox that I had. Drove it 25 miles to work, after work it was dead due to corrosion of the battery contacts.
