Disconnect Battery when Changing Relays?

I have a 1996 9000CS with dual front airbags. I believe that the Seatbelt Warning Relay may be shot since my interior lights don't work. Now to get at the relay, I need to move the fusebox out of the way - do I need to disconnect the battery before doing this? I'm worried about the airbag rearranging my face while I'm in there.
