Congrats on the purchase. Great car. I have two 97 Aeros. :-)
1. I would replace the idler pulley and tensioner pulley. I would pull the tensioner off. You can supposedly clean this or replace. I am about to try the cleaning method. Eeuro has a bushing kit to replace the bushing for the tensioner.
2. 5spd? I use 10w30 conventional oil. Replace every 2-3 oil changes. Have had no transmission problems with any of my 9ks.
3. I use ATE super blue. Very high quality stuff. Others say it is overkill, and it may be, but I don't mind spending a few extra dollars on overkill for the brakes...
4. Zerex G-05, which you can find at your local Napa store. Napa is the only one of the big chains that still carry it that I know of. It is the same chemically as the Mercedes coolant...half the price.
