Good morning.
Toothed tailpiece broke inside, so I stripped it down and removed the broken piece.
Reassembled without new mast. Reinstalled in car.
Motor would not accept new tailpiece (only go in a few inches, then no more)
Removed motor assembly.
Tried manually feeding tailpiece, but discovered that it wasn't being routed around the toothed drum in base.
Removed take up spool and fed end of tailpiece around the corners of the base.
Reinstalled spool and motor assembly in car.
Result: antenna "grinds" more loudly than usual (up and down) and leaves about 10" of mast exposed (multiple cycles).
Is there some guide (which gets "lost" or broken easily) which routs the tailpiece around the toothed drum in the base?
Any ideas?
