I can e-mail you a diagram (don't have a picture hosting account), but it should be fairly intuitive. The retaining collar threads into the ball socket, one end of the spring hooks onto a little notch on the collar and is stretched around the collar (in the direction of the threading) and the other end hooks onto a notch on the ball socket. If I recall correctly, the spring completes about a 3/4 turn.
