Hi all, when I pickup the car, it was set to run on leaded fuel because at the time (1991), where I was stationed didn't have unleaded fuel till begining of 1993. I had it switch to run on unleaded fuel by the certified mechanic once we could purchase the unleaded fuel . My question is, how did the engine check light stay off if it didn't have an O2 sensor? I say off because my I was told that leaded fuel ruins the O2 Sensor. Now if I disconect it, the CEL stays on. I would like to disconnedt it and the CEL to be off. The reasonis because I get better gas milage (5-6 GPM) with the O2 sensor disconnected. I think I need to change the Head Gasket, but till then, I would like to disconnect the O2 sensor and not get the CEL. Thanks in advance.
