I know they aren't supposed to get power except when door is open or key is on but the "96 that's newest to my fleet had Frankenseat, or at least a stuck driver seat that my impression was kept trying to move even after key was off. (I might be wrong on that point, but there's a chance anyway.)
Also, same car, I'm now trying to track down a low-speed radiator cooling fan problem, fan comes on at key on, even if you never start the engine, and stays on a long time after key is off. As we move into winter, a killer of a low battery. I swapped out the EDU (clock et al) with another car, but that was no cure. I changed out the fan, which had crumbling insulation on the wires, with another on which I had carefully re-wrapped wires with 3M's best electrical tape, and still no relief. The temp sensors on the head have connectors that are almost impossible to get to, that's my next target.
I'm reading your saga with interest, keep us all posted.
