As below, Bodymen don't like to 'patch' rust.
It's difficult,tedious work, often the rusting has spread far beyond the original scope of work. Ergo the large safety margin on the quote.
But in truth, Rust repairs, even the very best ones, are only a delaying tactic. NO rust repair will be permanent and no competent shop will claim that, avoid any that do.
Tough choice: $3k for a few more years?
